Portland Yacht Services

Portland Yacht Services is a full-service boatyard and marina founded in 1981 by circumnavigators Joanna and Phineas Sprague, Jr. Our highly competent staff offers a full spectrum of services for motor or sailing vessels of any type or size, from sales and maintenance, to storage, to refits and restorations. We specialize in helping owners prepare for extended cruising. We also produce and host the Maine Boatbuilders Show annually in March. Check the website for show dates and information.

Our overriding commitment is to make sure our customers receive value and enjoyment from their boating experience. We believe preparing a vessel bound for the sea is a serious responsibility, and we adhere to the high standards of American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) and American Boat Builders & Repairers Association (ABBRA). We cultivate relationships with boat manufacturers that include training when appropriate.

PYS can haul yachts up to 40 tons, has full-service rigging, welding, A/C, electronics, fiberglass, paint/varnish, parts department, carpentry and cabinetry facility. The marina has 128 slips and 18 moorings and can provide berths for yachts up to 200+ ft. and maximum draft of 22, and is a short walk from the historic Old Port. The marina is made up of floating docks and can provide water, pump out facilities and trucked-in fuel.
